What's this? A website about beer that is actually fun to visit. Gone are all the preloaders, intro videos, background music, club kids and other aberrations that usually represent the field of alcoholic beverage websites. To say that this is a breath of fresh air in this respect is an understatement.

I stumbled upon this out of the ordinary portfolio on Kitsune Noir a couple of days ago. I'm usually not a sucker for big splash images and intricate ways of entering a portfolio, but this one is just too damn beautiful. All in all, it's a great portfolio with some wonderful work in it. Nick de Jardine definitely has done a wonderful job. But I think the navigation may be too difficult to figure out for non-webdesigners. Am I wrong?

Web designer Joshua Lane just recently put together his personal website in a brand new way. The focus is on his online presence elsewhere, but there is also blog posts and other content on the site itself. I think he's done a great and unusual job with this, and accentuated it with nice textures and wonderful typography. Via Zeldman.

North Kingdom are probably most famous for their incredible Flash campaign sites. At least that's how I got to know them. Their own portfolio site, however, is built with HTML5, CSS and JavaScript with wonderful results. It's a lightweight, easily navigated portfolio type site that's a pleasure to use. It's beautiful and highly usable without being flashy (no pun intended).

The Norwegian Gateway College, located across the globe, recently got a sweet profile + site design courtesy of Creuna. The folding letters and numbers are superb. The same goes for the rest of this sweet package. Lovely stuff from Norway. Sorry, Norwegian language only. However, you may translate the site with Google Translate. Via Webdesignmagasinet.

Pictory is a great project with an incredible design. This is one of those site designs I'd love to call my own. It's big, beautiful, boxy and bold, and still manages to break out of its own constraints. Simply stunning. Via @chrismessina.

I think Ben Bodien's words describe this site and its designer, Mike Kus, perfectly: "That @mikekus is getting too good at this event site designing stuff. He must be stopped."

Daniel Burka has finally launched something new after joining Tiny Speck. In his own words, he's been "warming up to RGBA, rounded corners, minor transforms, and advanced selectors more and more". This may be a simple one-page site without any fancy bells and whistles, but it's a slick one at that.

Another fantastic single page portfolio. What really makes this one stand out is the super bold navigation (= excellent typography), as well as the high quality of the works shown. Truly bad ass work by ex-TDR designer David Bailey.

All the animated details and hovers make this one stand out from the crowd of freelance designer portfolios. The typography is great, too. A very nice find by @hiemil.
