Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts

I have yet to stay at a Four Seasons hotel. Still, in my mind they have an impeccable reputation for great service design. With their recent complete revamp of their online offering, Four Seasons takes a great leap forward. I know the competition isn't too tough, but I have yet to see a better hotel website than this. Finally someone raised the bar.

Not to mention that his portfolio site is top notch in all aspects as well. Large, crisp product photos while keeping everything to the point just adds to the fact that this guy is world class. No-frills and beautiful stuff all over. BTW Kerem's an Interface Designer at Fitbit.

I love the combination of a boxy grid-based design and great product photos in use at the Unit Portables site. You immediately get the feeling that their products are genuinely unique. However, my favorite part of the design is the way they have pulled the color of the main products displayed on the homepage onto the box below. It works especially well with the strong red and blue bags. Nice touch! Via @tomcavill.

Kyan

Historically I've found it difficult to find truly spectacular portfolio sites online. It's like finding a needle in a haystack. This week, for some reason, I've discovered two such sites. Put simply, the Kyan portfolio site is close to perfection in my book. They've gone for an ambitious, quite content heavy approach, and they've succeeded with flying colors. The combination of canvas animations, subtle details, beautiful typography, great content strategy work and incredible illustrations make for one of the boldest and most memorable portfolios in a long time. The homepage slider is just plain fantastic.

Goodie! One of my favorite Norwegian design studios finally moved away from their old portfolio built with Flash. This new site clearly shows how well these designers understand the web, not only technology-wise but also the UX. This is probably one of my favorite site designs in a while. Just check out the beautiful typography and grid. The slide-in search box is also an exquisite touch.

In the words of Robert Scoble: "The new @foursquare home page is crack!" Personally I find the new site top notch and very fast, and don't forget the awesomeness of the super clean homepage when logged out. I'm guessing it has the highest conversion rate of any teaser page for an iPhone app ever. Great work by @sambrown and the Foursquare team. Via @danielmall.

It's also a way for Carbonmade to show off the range and quality of their users. Truly inspiring and very well designed blog. There's nothing quite like it.

I love how he basically displays 2 sentences, 8 projects and 3 basic calls to action. Nothing overly fancy but it's very easy to digest and looks great.

It's a clean and simple little photo blog, and it's perfectly executed. Of course it doesn't hurt that the photos are great. With gorgeous typography and every little detail just feeling right, this makes for an outstanding little site. <strike>The only thing I miss is keyboard navigation.</strike>

I'd like to use the words of Tim van Damme to point out the disruptive momentum in Simple: "This is probably the most anticipated product ever for me". The site itself as well as the screenshots they're showing off look truly stunning. The fact that the current state of online banking UX is in such a bad shape gives Simple a huge opportunity right now. Hopefully the rest will try to catch up soon.
