Belgian photographer/director Kurt Stallaert's excellent portfolio sadly makes use of a fullscreen popup to show off his top notch work. It even tries to force a fullscreen popup on its visitors. I'm sure this is going to leave many potential fans leaving before they even take a look at what he's capable of creating. Too bad.

I did stay and look. Couldn't get parts of it to work. He's a great photographer but the site is lending it self to designer masturbation more that showcasing his beautiful talent.

I love the photography, it has a kind of glossy feel about it. I think the site itself is really interesting and experimental with the whole video background element think. I kind of agree with Sarah in that I think really good photography speaks for itself and everything around it just seems to distract the eye.

personally i see no problem with the popup - but yes i don't see a reason for it. maximizing the window could be done in a different way too. but hey look who's in charge. it's another marvelous release of milk and cookies. try soulwax.com to find more experimental stuff like this. and it is indeed a brilliant photo portfolio. and this full-screen-just-for-the-show-video-backings are kinda hip these days. georgeglenparker.com is something like that.
