The fact that the symmetrical circle drawings have been created using only a compass and ink is stunning. Art for the computer generation, produced by traditional, analog means. There's lots of great work like this in Richard Sarson's portfolio. What's more, it all goes hand in glove with the delicate, light feel of the site. A perfect, little portfolio.
This is really a nice portfolio. That drawing technique reminds me to this fancy ruler toys i had as a kid - mostly cheap plastic freebie stuff but a lot of fun. Now i know the technique is quite old and used in fine arts, architecture and in experimental photography. It is known as 'guilloche' and you can still see it everywhere on banknotes and credit cards used for security issues.
just wanted to share this knowledge, hope you don't mind.
This is really really nice :)
yes, the compass/ink pieces are stunning! after seeing these I got the urge to grab three pens, a compass and play :P
