31Three is the one-man studio of design-focused developer Jesse Bennett-Chamberlain. His recent work, like the ExpressionEngine site, represent some of the best stuff going on right now. His own redesign is quite different, and at the same time still top notch. Jesse is on fire these days! I can't wait to see what else he'll be pulling out of his sleeves in 2007.
I agree with you. It's presented very well with its mix of vibrant colors and mute tones.
Sorry i have to repeat myself (ExpressionEngine): this guy knows how to play. Everything is at place and exactly the way it needs to be done. Flawless, thought-out, tasty!
I think it's creative poverty. It's the same template over and over.
This is a beautiful website. OK; so it is definitely the whole 'web 2.0' look; but his colours are great, the typography is lovely and the grid is defined and well controlled. That's too hard for most people; especially to then develop it.
What I find interesting is looking at the 2007 websites versus the 2006 websites, and you can see that Jesse has his finger on the Web 2.0 pulse - his sites have changed with the times, and rightfully so, and wonderfully so - the 2007 designs are clean and effective, and have the 'new' aesthetic that we are all falling in love with. I think one could use his portfolio as a very good time-table or yard-stick, showing how web design has progressed over the last year.

Man! I really love this site. It is so vibrant. Easy, simple, beautiful, overwelming. My first impression is: ahhhhhh.
