Asymptote is a design, architecture and research practice based in New York. I feel that this site truly reflects the quality of their work. The navigation system is one of the best I've ever seen. A good combination of functionality and experimentation.
that's three in a row. three sites that maximizes my browser window for absolutely no good reason. i am really trying to figure out the point in why they need to do it, but i can't come up with one valid excuse.
if it is about getting my focus on their site, they failed. if it is about getting more space to work with, they failed. i closed down the window the second it was resized. it's obvious these duh-signers has got a long way to go.
I thought this site was very sophisticated...something i've never seen before..and done quite elegantly. Great content and their architectual work is stunning.
As for the comment above about the resizing ur window to fullscreen..there is an option that is given to choose a popup or fullscreen on the splash page.

no, there are two options, both which maximizes the browser window, just in different ways. amazed? nope.
Art for art's sake, functionality for Christ's sake! Is anyone else just a little bit sick of obscure, soul-less site ' designs' like this. Go and get a proper job if this the best you can do.
These people have to open their minds just a wee bit ... this is an art interface experiment. The only way we are going to progress, is to not conform to 800 X freeken 600. Close mindedness breeds stagnation ... so close the browser window and check out the O so user-friendly useit.com/jakob/photos/

Cool menu yes, Great use of Flash. But I got bored. Tiny windows here, nonsense notes over there... For flash show-off, great site. But Usability is nowhere. I doubt I'll ever re-visit.
