i think the work is amazing and the piece presented at BD4D 7. on the downside there isn't enought work there to look through, as in there isn't much of a site. be really kewl if there were some tutorials there coz the work is outa this world.

nice site, very simple. Not fantastic, but the work is fantastic, he might not be the most imaginative web designer, but the illustrations and animations are quite inspired. Nice work.

Other than the 3d abstracts; which i think are getting very tiresome these days, albiet he's very good at them, what else is Joost 'Famous' for? anyone got links to his other work?

ahh bullshit. your works rocks and the motion stuff is outa this world. i can see what peeps are saying about the update on the site as it looks the same but they obviously didn't look round for you new work. i personally think a lot more could be done with the site itself but the work is immaculate.

Everyones influinced if thats what some poeople are crying about, just add your touch, and dont create the next car the same. UPgrade. whats the fuss. you think out of everyone in this design world no one has simular stuff? His work is ok. Nothing special.Jens and James's work is better! Better 3d, more depth and detail. It's not bad, but the 3d is too simple. He has got some nice attention in Computer Arts though! That's cool... His site should be better. The pics are above average and deserves a more pro looking site!...

I would like to say that Joost is light years ahead of all of us in terms of design. I just didn't see much work added to his site. - contradicting myself again I went through it all and did see some new works - my apologies to Renascent and whoever else I offended. sorry =]

light years ahead in design?? dude you should understand what design is b4 you make such a comment ...... his work is not "design" nor are most of these so called "elite web designers " most have no clue what design is, just look at the work and you'll know it's not "design" and if some of studied art would know it's a style that some artist follows, they're not biting anyone's style.

To that Paul Rand guy - if you don't think that Joost is light years ahead of you - then lets see some work that you have done. I seriously doubt that you are even a fraction as talented as Renascent. He has more skill in his toenail clippings than you will ever have in your whole life - "dude" - r.e.s.p.e.c.t to Renascent -

I think what Paul Rand is saying, is that this is more art than design. Graphic/web - design is about communication, and the DESIGN here is nothing special. People tend to think that guys like Nando Costa,Mike Young,Jens Karlsson etc.are great designers, but to me they are more artists than designers really... This Renascent dude is a great artist though. He is among the best 3d abstract dudes...

why all the hate? people are entitled to either love or loath this. personally I think it is an aweful website (bad design), but some of his work is quite nice (art). But if you disagree, that's fine either.

I agree with Mikkel. This guy is excellent as an abstract artist, but when it comes to communicating a brand message through his work...no...it doesn't do that job. Was that the intention? Y or N? I like his work,it has *style*. Yeah, his site could have a better nav system, but if you were able to browse and see his work without too much effort, the site did it's intended job. The work speaks for itself. I say this guy is 70% art, 30% design.

Nice site, clean, simple, functional. What more do you want from a portfolio site. The portfolio is consistent, you can see the style, but that's an obvious observation. Nice to see that the site works so simply considering the endless complexity of the content. Not my fav stuff, but the best of its kind if you ask me. Well done, thanks again sb

I think whenever you get 30 (or more) posts about your work, good or bad, you're doing something right.

fairly poor & dull attempt at minimalistic design, yet an interesting 3d eyecandy collection (wouldn't want to call it art really). However, overrated or not, he has the workethics of a monk and deserves at least respect for that. Maybe both lovers and biters should take example and instead of surfing linkpods all days and wasting time commenting, start producing work yourself.

i love every f****** 3d abstrakt that joost has made , this guy is amazing. 10 of 10 for everything that he had put his hands and mind on.

I think the design of the site isn't really very good. Style wise it's a bit plain. Functional wise it isn't great at all. Very dark, difficult to read and the navigation could do with some work. But the actual 3D work is really very good and very Si-Fi. I really love it. The work is of such quality that I really notice the quality of the surrounding site. Pity.

there's something called navigation... look into it.

sitewise, could be better. he makes up for it with content. his motion graphics work is amazing. the first time i saw the new Sirius Radio commercials i almost dirtied my trousers. visionary...

Judging by the work he produces I think Joost works harder and longer than anyone I'm familiar with - for that alone he deserves respect - while he may not br the most 'talented' or whatever he is improving all the time. Much more than can be said about you whiney slags out there.

I have always loved his work. Just think he keeps it clean everytime.

I don't get the update. This site is already like this since many month. Further I think he makes some really nice images, though it looks generic and certainly not different than that of other 3d wizkids like Onyro and that Swedish kid. However, the site itself is not good at all, not even the presentation of the works. So basically it shouldn't bein here. Apart from that, some great work for him, and he deserves praise for that.

I don't get it. What exactly is the reason this is posted every 4 weeks, as soon as he changes the background colour ? He's good - yes. But I always miss sense and narrative in his work. It's all nice to look at, but what is he trying to tell me ?? As such, it becomes wallpaper and ambient moving image, nothing more. Surely, there is so much untapped stuff out there that's way more exciting.
