Steve Carty's photography portfolio is designed by Lounge Agency and features portraits of dozens of very famous people. Apparently this site has become highly popular among surfers, which isn't a bad thing since this one is worth your time.
I remember a few years back when I just started doing designs. I did this thing that's getting really common now. You expand an image by using the last pixel-row of an image and using it as a pattern to fill the width you want (like this site). I thought it looked nice, but the guys I looked up to then said it looked shit. I wasn't to confident in my abilities then so I stopped doing it. That proves you should stick with what feels good to you...

what's so great about this? Some of the photos look seriously amateur. Why would this be popular with surfers? There's waaay better photo sites...just my 2 cents...

I like the graphic design of the web site, but I don't understand the navigation concept. Wheres the overwiew about all pictures? Also I think, he should place a real picture of him on the site. You are used to view photos and then there's only this drawing of him.

The site is nice but the photos aren't that good, there's alot of better photographers than this one.

i agree. pretty nice site design with mediocre content. some of the photos look like they need serious help with the styling. no offense to anyone but i think if u're gonna do a nice flash site, shouldn't you at least have strong content to back it up?

yeah there are a lot better. while we're on the subject here are some of my favorite Flash photo sites- all with really strong content... stephenstickler.com, amivitale.com, sachabiyan.com, rui-camilo.de, michelelaurita.com, zeppettelo.com and my all time favoreite... eccentris.com.

i didn't think the fotos were so bad. sure it's not as great as the photographers sites you mentioned, but that's his style. style is relative. personally i think the models look pretty amateur but the fotos ain't so bad. nothing cutting edge but okay stuff nonetheless imho.

I don't know why Carty always gets so many haters! Personally I think his work is off the hook, the composition in his photos are beautiful. and for the comment about him using a pic of himself, a fan sketched that for him, so he put it on the site as a sign of respect.

There's a real good reason... his pics don't compare anywhere close to other professional photogs working like some of the better ones mentioned before. Frankly, I agree... some of his stuff looks downright amateur. I'm sorry but the compositions ain't nothing special either- hardly any originality or imagination. With clients like DMX and Jarhule, you could surely be more original. Just look at what Lachapelle did with Lil' Kim. Now that's dope!

There are photographers and there are great photographers. The latter he definitely ain't. But I like the work by Lounge on the site.

Some nice work. I like the site for Loungecom better. The photographer should choose more attractive models though. These girls look like ho's he's pimpin' and not professional models. Very little production effort involved with the pictures I think.
