The world of food recipe sites is a very crowded playing field, and that is why I love Gojee's approach to design. Lead designer Adam Meisel has taken a bold approach by focusing on huge photos to entice food lovers. There are also other innovative aspects to the design, like the "I crave..." feature in the top bar. My only gripe with the site is that it could be even faster to browse.

This beer website is outstanding for a couple of reasons. First of all it's exceptionally beautiful thanks to all the awesome illustrations. Secondly, it's got a very neat way of navigating/sorting/browsing the various contents. This is an interesting concept that made me spend more time on the site than I normally would.

Lilly's Table is basically a paid subscribtion food recipe newsletter. The website does a great job of convincing me that this is high quality stuff (i.e. delicious food). I think the call-to-action could have been a tiny bit less cluttered, but there is no denying that this is a very beautiful little site. Via Rebekah Cox.

Vivi Kola, The Swiss Original Since 1938 has a sugary sweet CSS + jQuery interface. There's lots of scrolling involved here, but the unusual look, feel and layout makes for an enjoyable experience. A job well done by Hinderling Volkart.

What's this? A website about beer that is actually fun to visit. Gone are all the preloaders, intro videos, background music, club kids and other aberrations that usually represent the field of alcoholic beverage websites. To say that this is a breath of fresh air in this respect is an understatement.

Knowing where to eat is only half the battle, the important half is what to order. Dishizzle aims to provide information, photos, reviews, and ratings about the dishes on the menu. After using the site quite briefly that a) it's a very well designed site of its kind, and b) it does the job with ease. Not exactly cutting edge, but still very nice and user friendly.

A quite complex site disguised as an [almost] single page site with some beautiful graphics. The one sentence should describe why I love the Boco site.

Bobby Solomon designed this beautifully simple blog for his friend Frank. Frank is a cook and writes about food. A great read and an amazing background pattern combined with perfect colors makes this one a favorite of the week. Via Kitsune Noir.

This is the official site for BBC Good Food Magazine, where you can search for [quality controlled] recipes. It is not the most creative site I've encountered in my lifetime, but it sure is one of a few information-heavy sites that have a very clear [and beautiful] design profile. The bold use of colors, the great use of photos, the lovely tabs, the graphic details. It all works together to create a great user experience.
