Not only has Orman Clark created a wonderful resource for other designers, it is also very beautifully presented. Great stuff all around.

I think I'll just quote Jason Kottke here: "Want to see the state of the art in web design using web fonts and Typekit? Check out Lost World's Fairs. It's all good, but Frank Chimero really knocked it out of the park with the 1962 Atlantis World's Fair. With HTML5 and web fonts, experimentation with web design seems open and fun again; reminds me of the 90s a bit." Via Kottke.

Here's a goodie from Yaron Schoen and Trent Walton. Not only is this a beautiful site and a great concept. The really wonderful thing about Design Swap is the fact that it is likely to inspire a lot of great designs in the near future.

With a redesigned website and an identity refresh, The Mid-Century Modernist is intent on showcasing the most beautiful retro objects of desire in the world. I really, really like the way it feels out of this world when it comes to layout, colors and navigation. Close to perfection and one of a kind. Make sure to check out the gallery. Via ISO50.

DeviantART is not only a great resource of icons, wallpapers and other great and not so great examples of digital art. The site was just revamped with a much lighter visual footprint. I haven't had a chance to try out the new navigation thoroughly yet, but I'm a big fan of the thoughts behind the new realignment. The user should be in charge to the greatest extent possible. Just like the previous version, the interface is still very beautiful.

A few days ago, Facebook announced that they had acquired Divvyshot. If I'm not mistaken, Divvyshot launched its redesigned site just a few days prior to the announcement. I'm not sure what's going to happen to the new design and the service, but hopefully someone will make use of Divvyshot's design even after Facebook has merged the service into its own photo sharing service. It's a high class quality design that truly stands out from its competitors, after all.

Pictory is a great project with an incredible design. This is one of those site designs I'd love to call my own. It's big, beautiful, boxy and bold, and still manages to break out of its own constraints. Simply stunning. Via @chrismessina.

Every once in a while, a major, content driven site dares to do something different, something a bit experimental. The Museum of Modern Art just did such a thing with the main site navigation when they recently launched a redesigned site. Stuck at the bottom of the browser window, the MoMA navigation bar reminds me of the Google Friend Connect bar. I think it's a bold move that works well.

The FWA Theater is powered by the FiV Platform from Fantasy Interactive. Even though being an all-encompassing Flash site, this site feel truly light-weight and snappy. The drag-and-drop interface adds to this great user experience. What's more, it looks amazing, too. Clean, simple and still enough details to inspire. A very nice portal for high quality videos.
